Kyle Jonas Kyle is a high-school age aviation enthusiast born in Washington, D.C. but living in Chicago. He has always loved aviation. He lives right in between the approach paths for ORD and MDW, so he can watch the wide variety of aircraft land from his house. He hopes to become a commercial pilot when he grows older. NEWS Air France to Cut 6,500 Jobs by 2022 According to multiple sources, Air France "aims to present a plan to trade unions to cut just over 6,500 jobs over the next two years." In addition to the 6,500 employees set to be released, which includes pilots, flight attendants, and ground staff, HOP! which is a small airline that is owned by and part of Air France, plans to cut around 1,000 jobs. NEWS Airbus to Cut 15,000 Jobs Amidst Covid-19 One of the largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus, will be cutting around 15,000 jobs due to the lull in production as a result of Coronavirus. In February, they stopped production of the a320 in Asia in hopes of preventing the spread of COVID-19. NEWS Man Struck and Killed by Aircraft in AUS On May 7, 2020, around 8:12 CST, a man was struck and killed by a jet on the runway at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas. The captain of Southwest Flight 1392 reported to ATC that "there may have been a man on the runway." The body was discovered on Runway 17R by an airport operations vehicle driver. Read More →
NEWS U.S. Flies Surveillance Planes Over North Korea For the past two weeks, there have been rumors about North Korea's leader, Kim Jong-un. These rumors range from "everything is normal" to "the leader is dead." NEWS AirAsia Plans to Resume Domestic Flights AirAsia, a low cost carries that flies around Asia, is planning to restart scheduled domestic flights around Malaysia on April 29, 2020. This will be followed by flights in Thailand and the Philippines on May 1, India on May 4, and Indonesia on May 7. This is all subject to approval from each country's governments.
