Global Airlines To Acquire Three New Airbus A380s

Global Airlines has had a busy few days as the young airline seeks to continue its growth. This week, Global Airlines agreed to purchase more wide-body jets and appointed several new names to its leadership team. 

Global Airlines, a new long-haul airline, has agreed to purchase three additional Airbus A380 aircraft. With the purchase of these new Airbus aircraft, the airline's fleet reaches a total of four Airbus A380s. All four new jets will be lined up and ready to go for the planned start of operations in the spring of 2024. 

The additional aircraft have been purchased for an undisclosed figure. Additionally, the delivery, outfitting, and refurbishment of the aircraft are still being determined by the Global Airlines team. Global Airlines is not acquiring these jets new from Airbus, meaning logistics still have to be decided regarding their refit and re-entry into service. 

James Asquith, founder and CEO of Global Airlines, was quoted saying, "We are also delighted to announce that we have agreed the purchase of a further three A380s to join the Global fleet. As I've always said, the A380 is the best aircraft in the sky, and we will continue to look for further acquisition opportunities."

For background, the airline was launched in 2023 as a long-haul airline based in London, England. When launched, Global Airlines aspired to offer passengers the best way to fly. 

Backed by aviation experts and investors worldwide, Global Airlines has acquired one Airbus A380 aircraft in addition to this week's recent agreement to acquire three more. The airline is currently planning to launch flights in the spring of 2024. The London-based airline plans to operate an exclusive fleet of Airbus A380s, each with 471 seats onboard. Although the airline only has four jumbo jets in its fleet now, it is expected to acquire more aircraft later in Spring 2024. With the inherent large size of the A380, Global plans to offer industry-leading First, Business, and Economy Class onboard their jets. The airline's route network or other business strategies are still unknown at this time. 
 

Besides doubling its fleet size, Global Airlines also added a few key figures to its leadership team this week. Former French Air Force pilot Pierre Madrange, as well as senior long-haul Airbus captain Ian Black, will join the Global Airlines Advisory Board. This board seeks to advise the leadership team on airline management and airline digitalization. 

"We extend our warmest welcome to both Ian and Pierre to the Global Airlines' advisory board, where they will work closely with our team," said Global Airlines CEO, James Asquith, "It is a real testament to the progress we are making that we continue to appoint senior and experienced people to our Advisory Board. I believe we must have one of the most experienced teams of aviation professionals coming together to launch Global Airlines."
