US Based Spirit Airlines has received its 200th new aircraft from Airbus, marking a significant milestone for the airline's growing Fit Fleet.

The delivery, an Airbus A320neo with registration N973NK, was manufactured at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama, and underwent service preparation at Spirit's aircraft maintenance facility located in Detroit.

The delivery is part of the airline's continued growth, with plans to add 26 new aircraft in 2023 and a major first with the delivery of its first A321neo aircraft.
Spirit Airlines transitioned to an all-Airbus fleet in 2006, which has resulted in one of the most fuel-efficient fleets in the industry, with an average age of approximately seven years.
By investing in new A320neo family aircraft equipped with advanced aerodynamics and state-of-the-art jet engines, Spirit has achieved significant reductions in fuel consumption, emissions, and noise levels.
CEO Insights
Spirit Airlines CEO, Ted Christie, expressed appreciation to Airbus for their long-term partnership and recognized the Spirit team and business partners who maintain and prepare the planes for service with safety as their top priority.
Christie also mentioned how the fuel-efficient aircraft allows Spirit Airlines to deliver an affordable and great experience to their customers.
According to C. Jeffrey Knittel, CEO of Airbus Americas, Inc., the 200th aircraft delivery to Spirit Airlines is a significant milestone that reflects Airbus' commitment to providing the best passenger experience and environmentally efficient operations.

Spirit Airlines' CEO emphasized that the airline boasts one of the most efficient and youngest fleets in the United States, thanks to the advantages presented by Airbus' A320 family of planes.
In addition, the airline's latest aircraft deliveries include an improved cabin interior with lighter, wider seats and additional amenities to enhance the passenger experience.
The airline's premium seating option, the Big Front Seat, has been expanded and offers greater pre-recline. Furthermore, Spirit has recently introduced high-speed Wi-Fi on its A320 and A321 sub-fleets.
