Dallas-based Southwest Airlines announced Wednesday that it is expanding its recently introduced red-eye flights and inaugurating 8 brand-new routes.

As reported by Ishrion Aviation and later seen in Southwest’s extended schedule through August 4, 2025, the carrier’s new offerings include:

  • Red-eye flights.
  • Increased service to highly demanded Southwest destinations.
  • The addition of popular seasonal routes.

Southwest’s New Routes

2025 Southwest will introduce 8 new flights, including one interesting international connection.

These new flights will operate from:

  • Baltimore (BWI) to San Francisco (SFO)
  • BWI to Ontario (ONT)
  • BWI to San Jose (SJC)
  • BWI to Long Beach (LGB)
  • BWI to Portland (PDX)
  • Seattle (SEA) to Houston (HOU)
  • Nashville (BNA) to SFO
  • Colorado Springs (COS) to Cancun (CUN)

Notably, the Colorado Springs to Cancun offering will become the airport’s only international connection when Southwest launches the route on June 14, 2025. Southwest will connect Colorado Springs with the famous Mexican vacation destination once a week on Saturdays.

In addition, Southwest’s new Baltimore to San Francisco route will become the airline’s longest mainland US domestic route. The carrier will compete head-to-head with United, offering 2 daily flights during the 2025 spring season.

Expanded Overnight Route Options

In late July, Southwest announced it would begin operating its first-ever red-eye flights in February 2025, among other major changes.

The initial offering included just 5 overnight routes: Las Vegas to Baltimore and Orlando, Los Angeles to Baltimore and Nashville, and Phoenix to Baltimore.

Today’s network expansion will see Southwest add 13 overnight routes, bringing the airline’s planned total to 33 red-eyes. Most new red-eye flights are set to launch on June 5, 2025
