EVA Air confirmed on January 12 that it will launch its first nonstop service between Taipei and Washington-Dulles International Airport in July 2026. This expansion marks the first time that the ultra-long-haul market between Taipei and the U.S. capital has been served by nonstop flights.

The route was revealed by the airline’s CEO ahead of a formal announcement. With the addition of Washington Dulles, the Star Alliance carrier will serve 10 North American airports, including Chicago O'Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles, New York JFK, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver.
Operational Details and Aircraft Configuration
EVA Air plans to operate the new service four times per week. While the exact launch date is pending, the flight schedule is expected to mirror the airline’s existing New York JFK service, with estimated departure times from Washington at 7:15 p.m. and arrival in Taipei at 10:00 p.m. the following day, per Simple Flying.

The airline will operate its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the route, configured with 278 seats across three cabins:
Business Class: 26 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration.
Premium Economy: 28 seats in a 2-3-2 layout with a 42-inch pitch.
Economy Class: 224 seats in a 3-3-3 layout with a 31- to 32-inch pitch.
Market Demographics and Connectivity

The decision to launch the route follows the recent addition of Washington Dulles to the network of South Korean carrier Air Premia. According to EVA Air, the Washington D.C. metropolitan area is home to more than 320,000 Asian residents, including 14,000 of Taiwanese descent.
Connectivity will be a key component of the route’s strategy. Passengers will have access to the domestic network of fellow Star Alliance member United Airlines at its Dulles hub. Furthermore, EVA Air reports that 60% of its U.S. passengers currently transfer to other flights in Taipei.
