Wrexham Football Club rose to fame last year when they attempted to be promoted into the top division of the UK football league. Unfortunately, they were not successful, but were in the spotlight as top footballer and football manager, Steven Gerrard, offered his help to get them higher in the league.
A New Chapter
Today, it seems to have resonated with United Airlines how strong a community this football club currently is, as they have now become the club's shirt sponsor. Soon enough, the United Airlines logo will feature proudly in the center of the football shirts.
The co-chairman Rob McElhenny and Ryan Reynolds revealed the new sponsorship and revealed that the sponsorship is for both men's and women's teams starting from the 2023/24 season. The news was revealed in a social media video on June 8, which was posted by United in conjunction with the football club which is now in the English Football League.
In a statement, the co-chairman said: "We seek out sponsors that match the spirit of Wrexham Association Football Club and the people of Wrexham."
"We could think of no better sponsor than United Airlines. The team, town and fans around the world are united as never before and United Airlines is committed to elevating our story and journey."
Chief communications Officer at United, Josh Earnest, added: "The story of Wrexham AFC and their fans represents the best of what professional sports has to offer."
"The passion and perseverance of this team on the rise has captured the imagination of people in the U.S. and around the world. When the Wrexham AFC players deliver even more heart-pumping moments, we couldn't be more prouder that United Airlines will be written across their chests."
A Summer of Travel Awaits!
This summer, the team will be traveling to the U.S. to experience what United Airlines has to offer for its highly anticipated American tour, which is a first for the team. Passengers who have access to United's MileagePlus scheme will have exclusive access to the matches that are in the U.S. and United is also working with the club to assist its local community from a philanthropic perspective.
"The Club will be in safe hands when traveling across the Atlantic for our pre-season tour and we look forward to flying with United."
This summer, United will fly non-stop to 37 cities across Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East which is more than all other U.S. airlines altogether. Destinations include London, the UAE, Malaga (Spain), Stockholm (Sweden), and Palma-de-Mallorca (Spain).
