NEWS Air France to Cut 6,500 Jobs by 2022 According to multiple sources, Air France "aims to present a plan to trade unions to cut just over 6,500 jobs over the next two years." In addition to the 6,500 employees set to be released, which includes pilots, flight attendants, and ground staff, HOP! which is a small airline that is owned by and part of Air France, plans to cut around 1,000 jobs. NEWS Airbus to Cut 15,000 Jobs Amidst Covid-19 One of the largest aircraft manufacturers, Airbus, will be cutting around 15,000 jobs due to the lull in production as a result of Coronavirus. In February, they stopped production of the a320 in Asia in hopes of preventing the spread of COVID-19. NEWS British Airways Cuts Jobs Due to Coronavirus Pandemic Resulting from the travel ban in the U.K., British Airways has warned it's workers that they are struggling to survive on a crisis "worse than 9/11" caused by the coronavirus epidemic. Alex Cruz, who is British Airways' chief executive wrote to some 45,000 employees informing them that the airline would be "parking aircraft in a way [they] never have before." Read More →
