Skytrax held its 23rd World Airline Awards ceremony on the second day of the 2023 Paris Air Show. Among many notable airline award winners, one particular airline stood out: Qatar Airways.
Qatar Airways won big at Skytrax's World Airline Awards, taking home four award plaques. Of these, the most notable was its securing of the "World's Best Business Class" award, marking the tenth time the carrier has won this distinction.

Aside from being crowned the world's best business class airline, Qatar Airways won three other awards:
- Best Airline in the Middle East
- World's Best Business Class Lounge
- Best Business Class Lounge Dining
World's Best Business Class
Qatar Airways has long been renowned for its business class service. The airline's reputation in this regard has especially increased since 2017 when it unveiled the "QSuite" Business Class cabin.
QSuite has since become Qatar's mainstay offering on the vast majority of its long-haul fleet. The carrier offers it across the majority of its Boeing 777s and Airbus A350s, which serve as the backbone of its long-haul operations.
Qatar Airways does not offer any suite-style seats on its Boeing 787-8, Airbus A380, and A330 fleets.
The former two aircraft have a more traditional business class seat setup, consisting of pod-style seats in a 1-2-1 layout. The A330 is the sole aircraft in Qatar's fleet with a 2-2-2-configured business class and thus, is not very favored compared to the rest of the fleet.
On the airline's new Boeing 787-9s, it offers a smaller version of QSuite. Because the 787's fuselage is smaller in width compared to the 777 and A350, Qatar was not able to fit these aircraft with the 1-2-1 QSuite setup found on the two aforementioned aircraft types.
Instead, the 787-9 fleet features a smaller suite setup also in a 1-2-1 configuration. While these suites aren't as large as QSuite, they still offer the privacy of a closing door along with usual business class amenities like a large inflight entertainment screen and seat that converts into a lie-flat bed.
It should be noted that the "World's Best Business Class" award does not come down to the seat. Instead, it revolves around all aspects of business class service such as onboard dining and even lounge services found in the airport terminal, to name a few.
Best Business Class Lounge
Qatar's Al Mourjan Business Lounge in Doha's Hamad International Airport has consistently won awards for being the world's best business class lounge, as it did this year.
This lounge features a plethora of amenities such as shower facilities, a luggage storage room, a business center, and two a la carte dining restaurants among others.
The restaurants themselves have found some recognition, as the food on offer here won Qatar Airways another award for "Best Business Class Lounge Dining". These restaurants, in addition to serving a la carte food, also have sushi bars and buffet options.
Notable Skytrax Award Winners
Aside from Qatar Airways, there are plenty of other airlines to report on who won their fair share of impressive awards.
