This innovative cabin design aims to revolutionize long-haul travel and conquer new frontiers in passenger comfort.

Qantas New A350 Cabin

After unveiling its opulent First and Business cabins in February, Qantas has now provided a glimpse of the remaining sections of the aircraft interior.

The design process for the Qantas A350 cabin, known for its intuitive features, began in 2019 and involved tens of thousands of hours to bring the vision to life.

The cabin is optimized to accommodate up to 238 passengers, enabling nonstop flights lasting up to 22 hours to nearly any destination worldwide.

Qantas' Project Sunrise flights are expected to reduce point-to-point travel time by over three hours compared to routes with layovers.

This groundbreaking achievement will enhance the overall travel experience for passengers.

Unveiling the Innovative Wellbeing Zone

Qantas proudly claims to be the world's first airline to offer a purpose-built Wellbeing Zone strategically located between the Premium Economy and Economy cabins.

The Wellbeing Zone features sculpted wall panels, integrated stretch handles, a guided on-screen exercise program, a hydration station, and various refreshments. This exclusive space emphasizes passenger wellness during long-haul journeys.

The Premium Economy cabin, boasting 40 seats, and the Economy cabin, accommodating 140 passengers, will provide the most generous seat pitches found on any Qantas aircraft.

These cabins will feature ergonomic leg and footrest systems, personal storage options, multiple fast USB-C charging ports, and integrated wireless charging for premium seats.

Connectivity is prioritized, with fast and free WiFi available across the entire Qantas A350 fleet.

Bluetooth connectivity is also provided in all cabins, allowing passengers to connect their personal headsets to the individual inflight entertainment screens.

Luxurious First and Business Suites

The A350 aircraft will offer six large enclosed First Suites designed to resemble a mini boutique hotel room. Each suite includes a 2-meter flatbed, a dining table for two, a separate recliner chair, and a 32" 4K ultra-high-definition touchscreen TV.

The 52 Business Suites will also feature sliding doors for enhanced privacy, lay-flat beds, large dining tables, bespoke lighting, and an 18" 4K ultra-high-definition touchscreen TV.

Qantas Group Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce said. At the same time, the Qantas A350 will have a high percentage of premium seats onboard.

Most customers will travel in the Premium Economy and Economy cabins, so maximizing comfort and wellbeing was a priority.

Executive Insights

"We have spent just as much time on the second half of the aircraft as we did the front; in fact, we started studies on the Wellbeing Zone before any other area of the A350," Mr Joyce said.

"The new Project Sunrise flights allow us to re-think long-haul travel, from aircraft cabin design to what ingredients we include on the inflight menu.

"Reducing the number of seats onboard our A350 to 238 compared to the 300-plus seat layout of other carriers means we maximize aircraft performance across long distances and give our passengers more space and comfort.

"Fewer seats translate to more space for each customer and a dedicated Wellbeing Zone for travellers to stretch, help themselves to a snack and spend time out of their seat. We are the only airline in the world that will have a bespoke designed onboard stretch and movement space."

Qantas has undertaken world-first scientific research to improve sleep quality, reduce jet lag, and enhance overall well-being before, during, and after ultra-long-haul flights. This research has significantly influenced the unique cabin design of the Qantas A350s.

Australian designer David Caon meticulously incorporated these research findings into the cabin layout, working closely with seat manufacturers to ensure every detail met the highest standards. Thousands of sample fabrics were tested, and a new Premium Economy seat, exclusive to Qantas, was created.

"The Premium Economy cabin has been redesigned from the ground up with a focus on ergonomics, entertainment and privacy," Mr Caon said.

"The new headrest wings are the biggest visible difference and will provide passengers additional support and a sense of privacy without isolating them from travel companions. An upholstered ergonomic foot and leg rest system allows the body to be cradled in recline to help better passengers sleep."

"Economy travellers also have an OLED 13" TV screen, foot net and convenient storage space within arms' reach to store glasses and personal items. The team has spent extensive time testing the ergonomics, lumbar support, and breathability of the seat fabrics in the new Economy seat, which will have 33 inches of legroom.

"In both the Premium Economy cabin and Economy cabins, we have redesigned every element of the seats to provide better features and a fresh look across the entire aircraft to create a sense of light and calm," added Mr Caon.
