In a significant move to solidify its position as the premier regional connector, interCaribbean Airways has officially announced a major network expansion from its Southern Caribbean hub at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI). Starting March 8, 2026, the airline will launch five new non-stop routes, bringing its total number of direct destinations from Barbados to 12.
This strategic expansion introduces direct links to Port of Spain (Trinidad), Georgetown (Ogle, Guyana), St. Maarten, Tortola (British Virgin Islands), and the airline’s home base in Providenciales (Turks and Caicos). The move follows the recent withdrawal of certain services by other regional carriers, with interCaribbean stepping in to bridge critical gaps in intra-island connectivity.
Strengthening Regional Integration
"Expanding non-stop options from Barbados has been a priority for us as we continue to build a truly integrated Caribbean network," said Lyndon Gardiner, Chairman of interCaribbean Airways. "These new routes not only simplify travel for our passengers but also reinforce Barbados’ role as a pivotal gateway between the Northern and Southern Caribbean."
The expansion is supported by the airline’s growing fleet of ATR 42 and ATR 72 turboprop aircraft, known for their efficiency on regional hops. According to CEO Trevor Sadler, the new services will generate over 20 new one-stop connecting opportunities through Barbados, facilitating seamless travel for both business and leisure sectors.

Increased Frequency on Existing Routes
Alongside the new destinations, interCaribbean is boosting frequencies on high-demand routes to support the increased hub traffic. Flights to Antigua (ANU) will increase to 10 times weekly, while service to St. Kitts (SKB) will move to five times weekly. The existing service to Georgetown (GEO) Cheddi Jagan International will also see an increase to 11 weekly flights, complementing the new service to the more centrally located Ogle Airport.
With this 2026 expansion, interCaribbean Airways now serves 24 cities across 18 countries, cementing its status as the largest regional operator by destination count.
