Airbus intends to increase the monthly A320 production at a slower rate than expected. Initially the expected figure was 47 aircraft per month. However, Airbus will raise the monthly production rate of the Airbus A320 family aircraft from the current 40 aircraft per month to 43 aircraft per month by the 3rd quarter of 2021 and 45 aircraft per month by the fourth quarter of 2021. Airbus says that the production rates will remain low for a long period of time. Airbus will not increase the production rates for its A330s and A350s. The A220 production will increase from 4 to 5 aircraft per month by the first quarter of the calendar year. Airbus has been aiming to raise its production for its single-aisle in response to the demand being forecasted, but its expectation of achieving a production rate of 47 aircraft per month has proven to be optimistic.
