Jet Pribadi Mengangkut Delapan Orang Jatuh Saat Lepas Landas di Bangor, Maine

Sebuah jet bisnis yang membawa delapan orang jatuh saat mencoba lepas landas dari Bangor International Airport pada Minggu malam, 25 Januari, di tengah badai musim dingin yang parah.

Pesawat tersebut, diidentifikasi sebagai Bombardier Challenger 650, jatuh tak lama sebelum pukul 8:00 PM ET.

 

Penyelidik federal dari FAA dan NTSB telah memulai penyelidikan bersama terhadap kecelakaan pada Minggu malam itu.

Cuaca dan Faktor Lingkungan

 

Kecelakaan tersebut terjadi bersamaan dengan badai musim dingin yang parah yang melanda wilayah Timur Laut Amerika Serikat. Pada saat upaya lepas landas, data meteorologi setempat menunjukkan kondisi ekstrem yang kemungkinan menghambat operasi:

 

  • Suhu: sangat dingin, 2°F (-16°C).
  • Visibilitas: Terbatas hingga 3/4 mil karena hujan salju ringan.
  • Kondisi Atmosfer: Suhu di bawah beku yang berkelanjutan dan visibilitas buruk di seluruh Penobscot County.

 

Rangkaian Lepas Landas dan Laporan Saksi Mata

 

Meski bandara ini dikenal karena landasan pacu yang luas, yang sering digunakan untuk pengisian bahan bakar rute transatlantik, saksi menggambarkan kegagalan katastrofik saat pesawat berangkat. Menurut keterangan dari lokasi, jet tersebut mencoba lepas landas tak lama setelah pesawat lain mendarat.

 

Pengamat mencatat bahwa Challenger 650 mulai "berguncang" hampir segera setelah meninggalkan tanah. Pesawat itu kemudian dilaporkan berguling hingga terbalik dan terbakar saat menghantam. Petugas pertama tiba di lokasi dalam beberapa menit, meskipun perusahaan berbentuk LLC yang berbasis di Houston yang memiliki jet itu belum merilis pernyataan resmi.

WDB I can only imagine that the 650 has a takeoff configuration warning system. So, unless it was INOP or the crew ignored it, you can assume the flaps and trim were set correctly for takeoff. That would leave contamination on the wings and tail for the loss of control at liftoff. If an aircraft gets deiced and then exceeds the holdover time of the deicer used it is often worse off than before deicing. Praying for the best of all involved.

They should not have gone to Bangor, Presque Isle (KPQI) would have been a better choice. No rain/snow/ fog, just very cold. Cheaper fuel costs. Shorter distance over the ocean. KPQI sells most of it's jet A fuel to planes going to, and coming back from Europe.
