WARSAW, Poland – In a milestone for Central and Eastern European aviation, LOT Polish Airlines officially placed its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 featuring a fully revamped cabin into commercial service on January 2, 2026. The inaugural flight, operated by aircraft registration SP-LYA, departed Warsaw Chopin Airport for Madrid, marking the start of a multi-year fleet modernisation program.
The new interior is the centrepiece of LOT’s "cohesive passenger experience" strategy, designed to bridge the gap between the airline's ground services and its in-flight atmosphere. This cabin refresh is the first fruit of a partnership with the London-based design agency Tangerine and the German seating manufacturer RECARO Aircraft Seating.

A Polish Landscape in the Clouds
The redesigned cabin moves away from generic aesthetics, embracing a palette inspired by the Tatra Mountains and the amber glow of a Polish sunrise.
"As Poland's national carrier, we consistently shape the travel experience to reflect the very best of Poland," said Izabela Leszczyńska, Director of Product Development at LOT. "A colour palette of deep blues and warm amber accents creates a sense of calm, while the thoughtful use of light enhances comfort and relaxation. The new interior design is more than a purely aesthetic update – it forms part of a cohesive strategy aimed at delivering an exceptional passenger experience."

Key Onboard Enhancements include:
RECARO R2 Seats: Ergonomically optimised slimline seats that provide increased knee room and improved comfort for mid-haul flights.
60W USB-C Connectivity: Each seat is now equipped with high-speed charging ports to support laptops and tablets.
PED Holders: Integrated mobile device holders are built into the seat backs, allowing passengers to enjoy their own content at eye level.
Six-Way Adjustable Headrests: Providing superior neck support during the carrier’s expanding 5+ hour routes, such as the new Warsaw-Almaty service.

Strategic Fleet Expansion
The delivery of SP-LYA is the first of 13 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft scheduled to join the fleet through 2026, all of which will feature the new interior from day one. Additionally, LOT has confirmed that its existing MAX 8 fleet and upcoming Airbus A220 orders will undergo retrofitting to maintain a consistent brand experience across its short-and medium-haul networks.

Integration with Airport Infrastructure
The cabin refresh follows the successful rollout of the Polonez and Mazurek business lounges in Warsaw and the new LOT Business Lounge at Chicago O'Hare. By utilising the same "Tangerine" design language across both lounges and aircraft, LOT aims to create a seamless transition for premium passengers, ensuring the "warm amber" lighting and ergonomic sensibilities follow the traveller from the gate to the galley.
