FlySafair: The World's Most On-Time Low-Cost Airline

BY FRANCO GROBLER January 05, 2024 0 COMMENTS

FlySafair, a South African low-cost carrier, has been named the most on-time low-cost airline worldwide by aviation analytics company Cirium. This is a remarkable achievement for the airline, which has only been operating since 2014.

Cirium's Report

Cirium's On-Time Performance Review studied over 30 million flights a year, and FlySafair came out on top with an on-time performance of 92.36%. This is equivalent to 92.36% of FlySafair's flights arriving within 14 minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled arrival time.

"On-time performance is core to the running of a successful airline," said Cirium's William Boulter. “Not only does OTP impact customer perception, but also cost management, environmental impact, network design and even soft issues like crew morale, which will again influence customer experience.”

FlySafair's on-time performance is even more impressive, considering the airline operates a fleet of older Boeing 737 planes. These aircraft are less fuel-efficient than newer aircraft, but FlySafair has overcome this challenge by operating an extremely efficient network.

"We are very proud of our on-time performance," said FlySafair CEO Kirby Metcalf. "It is a testament to the hard work of our team, and it shows that we are committed to providing our customers with a reliable and affordable travel experience."

FlySafair's on-time performance is beneficial for its customers and the environment. Flights arriving on time equates to fewer delays and reduced emissions.

"On-time performance is a key part of our sustainability strategy," said Metcalf. "We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, and our on-time performance is one way that we are doing that."

FlySafair's success is a sign of things to come for the low-cost airline industry. Low-cost airlines are becoming increasingly popular and are starting to offer a product that is just as good as, if not better than, traditional airlines.

"Low-cost airlines are the future of the aviation industry," said Cirium's CEO, Jeremy Bowen. "They are offering customers affordable fares and a good travel experience, and they are doing it in a way that is sustainable."

Why Use FlySafair?

The airline also has a very good safety record. FlySafair has never had a fatal accident. If you are looking for a low-cost airline that is on-time, safe, and customer-friendly, FlySafair is a great option. The airline is quickly becoming one of the best low-cost airlines in the African continent and is expected to continue to grow in popularity for years to come.
