British Airways (BA) has hinted at a fleet-wide refurbishment of its Airbus A380 aircraft. The reconfiguration, supposedly scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026, involves a significant shift in cabin density, prioritizing premium seating over total passenger volume.
The details of the new layout were briefly made public via a seat map on the airline’s official website before being retracted.

Capacity Comparison: Current vs. Reconfigured Layout
The total seat count will decrease by 48, falling from 469 to 421. This reduction is driven by a decrease in Economy and First Class seating to accommodate an expansion of Business and Premium Economy cabins.
| Cabin Class | Current Seats | New Seats | Net Change |
| First Class | 14 | 12 | -2 |
| Business (Club World) | 97 | 110 | +13 |
| Premium Economy | 55 | 84 | +29 |
| Economy | 303 | 215 | -88 |
| Total Capacity | 469 | 421 | -48 |
