Two Deceased After Oshkosh Opening Day Plane Crash

A fatal crash occurred during the opening morning of the 2024 EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, WI.

According to remarks made by EAA CEO Jack Pelton before his opening day press conference at the event, the aircraft crashed approximately two miles south of the airport.

The crash was visible from the flightline.

Two people are believed to be deceased. The NTSB has initiated an investigation.

Wittman Airport was closed briefly following the accident but has now been reopened.

According to flight tracking application FlightRadar24, the aircraft involved was a Lancair ES. The Lancair is a modern single-engine general aviation aircraft.
