The Newest Trump Aircraft: Vice President Nominee JD Vance's Private Boeing 737-800

Former President of the United States, Donald Trump, has unveiled his newest aircraft for running mate and Ohio senator, JD Vance. The announcement came on the first day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 15 when Trump was officially nominated as the Republican candidate for President in the upcoming 2024 election.

Senior Trump advisor Jason Miller shared a photo of the new aircraft Monday Evening. The 22-year-old Boeing 737-800 was shown sporting a Trump-Vance decal and Trump’s campaign slogan: "Make American Great Again."

The Trump-Vance plane is registered as N917XA, and — according to many X users — is a recently upgraded Boeing 737-800. The plane was reported to be spotted at Kansas City International Airport (MCI) in Kansas City, Missouri.

According to Jack Sweeny, an X user well-known for tracking private jets of celebrities, “the Trump Vance plane looks to be N917XA which is at MCI airport. Clues: rust on the top of outside hangars is the same, as pictured. 917 matches door number. Eastern airlines logo pictured on the lift, N917XA is an Eastern airlines aircraft.”

As reported by Simple Flying, the 737 aircraft is owned by Eastern 737 Asset Holdings LLC based out of Kansas City. Before being purchased by Eastern, the plane was owned by iAero Airways, previously Swift Air, a charter airline based in North Carolina.

The Trump Vance aircraft has already flown over 66 flight hours in 2024, visiting airports including Chicago O’Hare, Calgary International, and Boeing Field during its 30 flights.

Newest Addition to the Trump Aviation Fleet

Donald Trump has long operated his well-recognized Boeing 757-200, dubbed Trump Force One. The Boeing 757-200, registered as N757AF, was built in 1991 and delivered to Sterling Airlines. Trump then purchased the aircraft in 2011 to suit his business and campaign needs.

Trump Force One can seat 43 passengers, a far cry from the typical 200+ passengers that commercial 757 models carry. The aircraft was utilized extensively during the 2016 campaign season before being moved into storage during Trump’s presidential term. In 2021, Trump moved the aircraft out of storage and upgraded the plane in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

In addition to the Boeing 757 and Citation X, Trump Aviation owns three Sikorsky S76 helicopters. These helicopters are utilized by the Trump Organization for short-range shuttle services for executive members.

Previously, Trump owned and operated a Cessna Citation X, registered as N725DT. The aircraft was purchased in 1991 with a maximum occupancy of eight passengers. In the early 2000s, the Citation X was the fastest business jet in the world, cruising at speeds upwards of Mach 0.91 and altitude ceilings of 51,000 feet. The plane allowed Trump to fly into smaller airports where Trump Force One would have been too large to operate safely. However, in March of 2024, the aircraft was sold for around $2.5 million, leaving Trump with only one jet aircraft, Trump Force One
