NEWS Jan 24, 2024 Former Qatar Airways Chairman Receives 20-Year Jail Sentence for Multiple Crimes Qatar Airways' former Chairman of the Board of Directors was recently handed a jail sentence over various charges. Ali Sharif Al-Emadi has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on account of money laundering. He has been found guilty of laundering over $5.6 billion from unconfirmed origins. NEWS Jan 16, 2024 ANA Boeing 737 Makes Emergency Landing After Cockpit Window Discovery A Boeing 737-800 operated by All Nippon Airways (ANA) made an unscheduled return to New Chitose Airport (CTS) in Japan on Saturday after a crack was discovered in the outermost layer of the cockpit window. While frightening for passengers and crew, the incident resulted in a safe landing and no injuries. NEWS Jan 11, 2024 British Airways Pilot Kidnapped and Tortured Outside Supermarket During Stopover in Johannesburg A British Airways pilot was kidnapped and tortured by a large group of criminals during a stopover in Johannesburg on January 10. The pilot was "shaken" by the attack after being forced to give up "thousands and thousands" of pounds to the attackers in exchange for his release. NEWS Jan 09, 2024 Two Silver Airways ATR-72s Collide at Fort Lauderdale Airport On January 5, two Silver Airways ATR-72 turboprop aircraft collided at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Shortly before 8:00 a.m. local time, one Silver Airways ATR-72 with registration N702SV clipped the tail of another ATR-72 (N708SV). Both aircraft, one being towed and the other parked, had no passengers onboard and the damage sustained appears to be relatively minor. Read More →
