According to remarks made by EAA CEO Jack Pelton before his opening day press conference at the event, the aircraft crashed approximately two miles south of the airport.

The crash was visible from the flightline.

Two people are believed to be deceased. The NTSB has initiated an investigation.

Wittman Airport was closed briefly following the accident but has now been reopened.

I have been writing for AeroXplorer.com since the beginning of the year. My new novel, "Time Of Departure," an aviation-related time-travel story, was released on June 1, 2024, and tells the story of the crew and passengers of a Trans World Airlines L-1011 that mysteriously lands in 1947 St. Louis, where they must blend into society while trying to find a way home before business mogul and TWA owner Howard Hughes gets his hands on the jet for its futuristic technology, leaving them stranded in the past forever.
