JetBlue Airways is cementing its status as the leading carrier at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) today with a major schedule expansion that significantly bolsters its "BlueCity" focus. Under its ongoing "JetForward" strategy, the New York-based airline announced the expansion of service on four high-demand routes, a move that increases year-round connectivity between South Florida and key domestic and international destinations.
The announcement comes on the same day the carrier officially launched its highly anticipated daily nonstop service to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), which has already been slated for a frequency increase later this summer. The expansion highlights JetBlue’s aggressive pivot toward the East Coast leisure market, following its commitment to add depth to its most profitable regions.

Strengthening the Sunshine State Network
The core of today’s announcement involves converting seasonal routes into year-round staples and doubling down on flight frequencies. Most notably, JetBlue’s service between Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville (JAX), previously a limited spring break offering, will transition to daily, year-round flying this June. Additionally, popular links to Tampa, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Cartagena, Colombia, will see a substantial boost in daily departures.
Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s senior vice president of revenue, network, and enterprise planning, emphasized the strategic importance of the FLL hub in an official statement:
“These additions reflect the strength of demand we're seeing in Fort Lauderdale and our continued commitment to building depth in our South Florida focus city. We're proud to continue investing in Fort Lauderdale with more year-round flying and added frequencies, ensuring it remains one of the strongest and most connected cities in our network.”

A Record Year for FLL Operations
Over the past 12 months, JetBlue has added 20 new destinations from Fort Lauderdale, reaching a peak of 113 daily departures to 46 nonstop destinations in late 2025. This latest wave of expansion signals that the airline’s growth in the region is far from over, especially as gate capacity at FLL opens up following industry-wide schedule realignments.
Industry analysts suggest that by increasing frequencies on proven routes rather than experimenting with unproven markets, JetBlue is aiming for immediate profitability while offering travelers more flexibility. The move into Dallas and the increased presence in Tampa and Jacksonville directly challenge regional competitors by offering the JetBlue “experience”, including free high-speed Wi-Fi and the most legroom in coach on routes traditionally dominated by legacy carriers and ultra-low-cost rivals.

Navigating the JetForward Strategy
As JetBlue transitions into the 2026 summer season, its "JetForward" plan is visibly taking flight. By focusing on its strongest hubs like Boston, New York, and Fort Lauderdale, the airline is seeking to improve its operational reliability and financial performance. For travelers in South Florida, this means more "year-round" options to destinations that were once only reachable during peak holidays.
With the first flights to Dallas-Fort Worth departing today and the Jacksonville daily service looming on the horizon, JetBlue is clearly signaling that it intends to remain the "hometown" carrier of Fort Lauderdale for the foreseeable future.
