A woman turned a calm, public-use airport into chaos on Saturday and Sunday evening as she used her car to barricade a runway that several planes were trying to land on.
The driver, named Bonnie Campbell, was reportedly taking a joyride with her silver Nissan Pathfinder at Tulsa Riverside Airport in Oklahoma on Saturday. The car then was parked in the way of “several outbound aircrafts,” the 9-1-1 caller told police. Campbell, however, was nowhere to be found by the time authorities arrived at the airport.
Campbell returned Sunday evening, once again parking her car on a taxiway and obstructing an airplane. An unnamed male pilot was attempting to taxi the plane until he saw the silver Nissan parked on the takeoff ramp.
According to the pilot's testimony, he could see beer cans and smell alcohol as he was approaching the vehicle. He was successful in turning the SUV off and confiscating Campbell's key until police arrived again.
Tulsa Police issued a statement regarding their encounter with Campbell on Sunday. Campbell reportedly had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and uncoordinated balance when interacting with officers. She blew a .34 on the breathalyzer test — well over the .08 limit set by state law.
Inside the Pathfinder, officers found more than 18 beer cans — some discarded inside a garbage bag. Other items inside the car included empty beer bottles and beer packaging.
According to police, Campbell explained that she was visiting family, who owns one of the hangars at the airport. According to local station KJRH, jail records show that Campbell is a Texas resident.
Campbell was arrested for Felony Aggravated DUI - second offense, then transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Tulsa Police Department have shared their report on Facebook. The post reiterates that Campbell was arrested and not convicted.

Why are you using an image of a KLM aircraft in the header? KLM doesn’t fly there!

The police should have just shot her and dragged her and her car off the runway. That way she will never drive drunk again.

Why is this being made public? It’s just an invitation to a terrorist to gain easy access to both the runway & aircrat at TUL. And why is this access so easily available?

This isn't KTUL - Tulsa International Airport, this is KRVS - Tulsa Riverside Airport.
