Gulfstream G500 and G600 Fleet Crosses 400 Customer Deliveries Milestone

Gulfstream Aerospace has reached a significant milestone in the history of its large-cabin business jet program, with combined deliveries of the G500 and G600 surpassing 400 aircraft globally. The 400th delivery – specifically a G600 outfitted at Gulfstream's St. Louis facility – went to an Asia-Pacific customer, underscoring the growing demand for large-cabin, long-range business jets across the region and reinforcing Gulfstream's position as a dominant force in the upper end of the business aviation market.

A Program Built on Performance

The G500 and G600 entered service in September 2018 and August 2019 respectively, positioning Gulfstream in the large-cabin segment with two complementary platforms that share a common flight deck, systems architecture, and cabin design philosophy. The G500 offers a range of 5,300 nautical miles, while the larger G600 extends that to 6,600 nautical miles, giving operators the flexibility to connect a wide range of city pairs nonstop that would otherwise require a fuel stop.

Together, the two aircraft have accumulated more than 519,000 flight hours and over 200,000 landings in service, alongside more than 190 city-pair speed records – contributing to Gulfstream's overall total of 815 records across its fleet. Most recently, a G600 flew from Sapporo, Japan to Savannah, Georgia – a distance of 5,835 nautical miles – in 11 hours and 38 minutes at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.88.

Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream, marked the milestone with a statement that framed the achievement in terms of customer confidence rather than production numbers:

Reaching 400 deliveries is a testament to the confidence customers around the world continue to place in Gulfstream and in the G500 and G600. Together, these aircraft have fueled sustained demand for our next-generation fleet and play a pivotal role in Gulfstream's vision to offer an aircraft for every mission.

EASA Steep-Approach Certification Expands Access

Alongside the 400-delivery milestone, 2026 has already brought another significant development for the program. Earlier this year, both the G500 and G600 received steep-approach landing certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency – building on FAA steep-approach certification the G500 received in 2023 and the G600 in 2024.

To earn the certifications from both regulators, both aircraft demonstrated steep-approach capabilities with low-speed handling and short-field landings at London City Airport in England and Lugano Airport in Switzerland – two of Europe's most challenging and capacity-constrained airports. Steep-approach certification requires an aircraft to fly a final approach at a glide slope angle of 5.5 degrees or steeper, compared to the standard 3-degree approach used at most airports. 

The ability to fly steeper approaches at lower speeds opens up a significantly wider range of destinations for operators, particularly in Europe where challenging terrain and tight airport environments are common.

Shared DNA With the Next-Generation Fleet

Both aircraft feature the Gulfstream Symmetry Flight Deck, which includes the industry's first active control sidesticks, extensive use of touchscreen technology, and Phase-of-Flight intelligence that reduces crew workload during critical phases of operation. The avionics suite has since been carried forward across Gulfstream's broader next-generation lineup, including the G700, G800, and G400, creating a high degree of commonality across the manufacturer's current portfolio.

The cabin on both types features 100% fresh air with plasma ionization air purification – a system that continuously refreshes cabin air without recirculation – alongside Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows, described as the largest in the industry, and a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925. Both aircraft were designed from the outset with manufacturing efficiency in mind, with shared components and systems reducing production complexity and supporting the aftermarket.

With the 400-delivery milestone reached and EASA steep-approach certification now in hand, the G500 and G600 program enters the second half of 2026 in a strong position, and with a growing footprint in the Asia-Pacific market that points to sustained demand for large-cabin business aviation well into the decade ahead.
